Getting to the Conference Center

Below you will find directions for getting to the conference center from the three area airports. You may find the metro rail map useful when navigating through the city.

From DCA, Ronald Reagan National Airport: This is the nearest airport to the conference venue and is also the most accessible. The blue and yellow metro lines can be accessed from DCA.

  • Option 1: Take the blue line to Largo Town Center for five stops to Rosslyn. Next take the Orange line towards New Carrolton for one stop. Get off at Foggy Bottom / GWU. Note that the Orange line tends to get very busy with commuters during the morning and afternoon "rush".
  • Option 2: Take the yellow line to Fort Totten for four stops to L'Enfant Plaza. Then take the Orange line towards Vienna or the Blue line towards Franconia Springfield (these two lines share the same track in D.C.) for 6 stops. Get off at Foggy Bottom / GWU

From IAD, Washington Dulles International Airport: Take the silver line express bus to West Falls Church metro station. Take the Orange or Silver Line for 7 stops to Foggy Bottom / GWU.

From BWI, Baltimore Washington International Airport: You can reach the conference venue by either taking a bus or a commuter train.

  • Option 1: Take the express B30 bus from the airport to the Greenbelt Metro station. There take either the Green or the Yellow line to L'Enfant Plaza. Next take the Orange line towards Vienna or the Blue line towards Franconia Springfield (these two lines share the same track in D.C.) for 6 stops. Get off at Foggy Bottom / GWU
  • Option 2: Take the commuter MARC train to the Union Station. Next take the red line to Shady Grove for 3 stops to Metro Center. Transfer to Blue or Orange line in the direction of Franconia-Springfield/Vienna for 3 stops. Get off at Foggy Bottom / GWU

Once you arrive at Foggy Bottom, the university will be located all around you. The Science and Engineering Hall has four entrances: one located on 23rd  between I and H streets, and three on 22nd also between between I and H streets.

Getting Around Washington, D.C.

The best way to get around D.C. is by using the Metro, D.C.'s subway system. The conference is located near the Foggy Bottom / GWU station on the blue and orange line. You will find more information about the system on the Metro website, including a trip planner and a metro rail map. The cost for each trip is based on the distance traveled and also on the time of the day, with the rate being higher during the morning and afternoon "rush". You pay for the trip with a plastic SmartTrip card and can be purchased and replenished at most metro stations.
